Emma Tarswell is an award-winning strategic communications and brand leader with more than 15 years of experience helping organizations communicate complex ideas, strengthen their brands and engage diverse audiences.

Her experience spans strategic and integrated communications, brand strategy, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, digital strategy, editorial leadership and creative direction. She has led communications for national research networks, advised executive leadership, directed organizational brand initiatives and developed multi-channel communications supporting advocacy, reputation, engagement and organizational priorities.

Most recently, Emma led communications and engagement for MICYRN and RareKids-CAN, two national pediatric research networks. Previously, she spent nine years at CIFAR, progressing through five increasingly senior roles and ultimately leading work across strategy, communications and institutional brand.

A Certified Registered Graphic Designer (RGD), Emma brings an unusual combination of communications leadership and deep creative expertise. That perspective allows her to move comfortably from organizational strategy and messaging to the experiences, content and systems that bring a brand to life.

Her work has been recognized by the Canadian Public Relations Society and the International Association of Business Communicators.

Emma holds a Master of Publishing from Simon Fraser University and a Certificate in 2D Design from Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
